“Whistle Stop Dentist”
On the Ontario C.P.R. Dental Car
1931-1935
By David C. Brownlow
ISBN 0-9730932-O-X
$29.95
The book is a hotbed of historical information and references of notable importance. David C. Brownlow shares excerpts from Ralph Brownlow’s (the author’s father) letters and accounts of the comings and goings of the Dental Car. Often humourous and lighthearted, we are welcomed into this historical world.
Absolutely wonderful photos mark phases in their exciting journey, and letters, insights and remembrances are shared by Violet (the author’s mother, wife of Ralph Brownlow) and some of the nurses who shared time on the Car.
The story includes mention of many interesting people and references to memorable historical moments many people may find interesting. Including references to the Great Depression, when the Monopoly game was first invented and the opening of the very first Drive-In Theatre.
It was a life of great adventure and one that is full of intrigue. A must read for the history buff, a truly excellent read for the rest of us.

By Anonymous September 12, 2004 -- These Benefits at a glance are a comparison intended to help you compare Unicare Plan benefits for independently contracted in-network providers, and reflects your share of costs for covered expenses after you have met any applicable deductibles.
1.All plans feature a $5,000,000 per member lifetime maximum in benefits.
2.When you use UNICARE’S independently contracted in-network (participating) providers, your costs are based on a specially negotiated fee for UNICARE which ultimately should result in less out-of-pocket cost for you.
3.When you use out-of-network (nonparticipating) providers, your costs are based on covered expenses, and often result in higher costs to you (but less than having no insurance coverage at all).
4.Most plans offer $30 copay for Dr. office visits with the deductible waived for the first 4, or 10 visits. Different percentages apply after deductibles are met depending on the plan of choice. With the Performance Plus having no deductible and unlimited visits!
5.MedCall (trademark reg.) is a Toll-Free health information hotline by phone to health plan members.
6.UNICARE Healthy Extensions Discounts are also available to all health plan members.
7.Prescription Drug Benefits with a $10 copay for generic drugs. Then a $25 copay for name brand drugs (most plans have a separate deductible for name brand RXs) depending on the plan of choice.
Unicare is a separately incorporated and capitalized subsidiary of Wellpoint Health Networks Inc. and its family of companies provide health coverage for over 13 million people and have over 426 million speciality members.
